Salix Animal Health, LLC, Announces Voluntary Recall of One Lot of “Good ‘N’ Fun – Beefhide Chicken Sticks” Dog Treats Due to Possible Salmonella Contamination

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – September 30, 2015 – Deerfield, FL – Salix Animal Health, LLC today announced it has initiated a voluntary recall of one lot of “Good ‘n’ Fun – Beefhide Chicken Sticks” because it may have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

Salmonella can affect animals eating the product and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated products.

Healthy people infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for some, or all, of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Rarely, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare providers.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – July 23, 2015 – Manchester, CT – Bravo Pet Foods of Manchester, CT is recalling select lots of Bravo Chicken pet foods for dogs and cats due to concerns of the possible presence of Salmonella.
The recall was initiated after routine testing by the New York State Department of Agriculture revealed the presence ofSalmonella spp. Poly A contamination.
All products tested negative by a third party independent laboratory prior to release for distribution to consumers.
No additional products are affected by this recall. The company has received no reports to date of illness in either people or animals associated with these products.
Salmonella can cause serious illness or fatal infection in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal cramping and diarrhea. Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare providers. Always use proper caution when handling raw foods.

Carnivore Meat Co Recall

Carnivore Meat Co. of Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA, has recalled two limited batches of Vital Essentials Frozen Beef Tripe Patties and Frozen Beef Tripe Nibblets after the products tested positive for Listeria.

The lots involved are Vital Essentials Frozen Beef Tripe Patties, UPC 33211 00809, Lot #10930, Best by date 20160210, and Vital Essentials Frozen Beef Tripe Nibblets, UPC 33211 00904, Lot #10719, Best by date 12022015. The “Best By” date code and lot # is located on the back of the package.

The affected product was distributed in Washington, California, Texas, Georgia, Illinois, Colorado, New Mexico, Florida, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Ohio and Vermont.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled items should call +1.920.370.6542, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. CDT, to obtain replacement or a full refund.

If a package of a recalled product has been opened, consumers should dispose of the product by securing it in a covered trash receptacle.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — July 5, 2015 — Milwaukee, Wis. — Stella & Chewy’s is voluntarily recalling some of its products due to concerns of a possible presence of Listeria Monocytogenes. The recall was prompted by a positive test confirming Listeria monocytogenes in Chewy’s Chicken Freeze-Dried Dinner Patties for Dogs, 15 ounce, Lot #111–15, during routine surveillance testing by the Maryland Department of Agriculture.
There have been no reported pet or human illnesses associated with this recall.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — January 30, 2015 — Loveland, CO — Grill-Phoria LLC of Loveland, Colorado is recalling approximately 200, 3.5 oz bags of Big Bark All Natural Beef Jerky Treats for Dogs because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. These bags were distributed and manufactured between September 20, 2014 through January 2, 2015, and do not have lot codes.

Salmonella can affect animals eating the products and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products. Most people recover from salmonellosis in four to seven days without treatment, but some groups are at higher risk of developing more severe symptoms. These high-risk groups are: children under 5 years of age, the elderly, pregnant women, people with weakened immune systems.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – January 20, 2015 – Valparaiso, IN – J.J. Fuds in Valparaiso, IN is recalling a select lot and product of J.J. Fuds Chicken Tender Chunks Pet Food because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. Animals’ ill with Listeria will display symptoms similar to the ones listed above for humans. People who have concerns about whether their pet has Listeria should contact their veterinarian.

The recalled product was distributed regionally in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana and Illinois to wholesale and retail customers. The product can be identified by the batch ID code (manufactured date) and UPC code printed on the back of the individual plastic bag or on the master case label. This product is a frozen raw poultry product (see Safe Handling Instructions on package) and has a shelf life of one year if kept frozen.

The recall was a result of a routine sampling program by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development resulting in a positive test for Listeria monocytogenes. The company has not received any reports of dogs experiencing nausea and diarrhea that may be associated with these specific products. The company has received no reports of human illness as a result of these products.

J.J. Fuds, Inc. will immediately start working with distributors and retailers to properly dispose of any affected product left on freezer shelves. The company will also be working with distributors and retailers to recall this product from pet owners to ensure the proper disposal of any affected product that has been purchased.
